About

Beyond Beauty for Girls is an advocacy platform dedicated to building self-esteem and inspiring confidence in girls.  Founded on the belief that every girl is uniquely beautiful from the inside out, Beyond Beauty for Girls attempts to redefine the meaning of beauty as it is presented in our modern social culture.  By presenting positive messages of empowerment,  the truth behind the “perfect beauty” advertised by the media and real life experiences from growing up as a girl in today’s world who struggled with her own self-esteem and body image issues, founder Lindsay Staniszewski motivates and inspires girls and teens to stop obsessing and start living–living for the dreams and goals that each young woman has set for herself.

By partnering with organizations such as the Girl Scouts of the USA, The Confidence Coalition, the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty and the Eating Disorder Network of Maryland, Beyond Beauty for Girls promotes the development of strong, bold young women as our future leaders of tomorrow.  With these partnerships, founder Lindsay Staniszewski has used her voice to initiate conversations about beauty and self-esteem with girls and teens across the state of Maryland and encourages each young woman she meets to use her voice, talents and passions to make a difference in her own individual way.

About the Founder

Lindsay Staniszewski, a soon-to-be graduate at the University of Maryland College Park, finally realized her dream on the evening of June 26, 2010 when she was crowned Miss Maryland 2010.  Lindsay placed as 2nd Runner-Up at the Miss Maryland Scholarship Pageant in 2007, 2008 and 2009, breaking the cliché and proving that 4th time’s a charm!  With her B.A. in Communication close at hand, Lindsay plans to use her educational foundation in Public Relations to reinvigorate interest in the Miss America Scholarship Organization during her year of service.

Using her voice as Miss Maryland, Lindsay is working daily to promote her platform, Beyond Beauty for Girls.  As an Official Ambassador for The Confidence Coalition and advocate for the Girl Scouts of the USA,  Lindsay enjoys sharing her passion for building self-esteem in girls and inspiring young women to achieve their dreams.  Her love of connecting with people and sharing her talents has allowed Lindsay to involve herself with many charities and non-profit organizations across the state, including her work with the Queen for a Day Organization and the Children’s Miracle Network, for which she has helped raise funds for terminally-ill children in hospitals across the region.

During the Fall of 2009, Lindsay worked in the Press Office of Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley working alongside the Press Secretary to plan events and conduct media relations for the Governor and the First Lady.  As a public relations assistant at The Souza Agency and an intern with La Casa Hermosa, Lindsay has used her creativity, passion for writing and love of strategic communication to publicize major public relations events and develop campaigns for clients of various industries, her favorite being fashion!  Lindsay plans on continuing her education with the scholarships she has earned from the Miss America Organization to obtain her Master of Arts in Public Relations after her year of service.

Lindsay has spent the past 10 years active in school, community and regional musical theatre—performing on stage is her favorite passion.  Her most recent role was playing “Belle” in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, for which she was inspired by the musical’s message and meaning which parallels her platform’s mission: to find beauty from within.  Lindsay has traveled the state of Maryland singing at sporting and organizational events, but her favorite performances have included those at the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

Lindsay competed in the 90th Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas during January of this year, where she proudly represented Maryland along with 52 contestants from across the country.  Lindsay was recognized as a Quality of Life Finalist by the Miss America Organization and former Miss Americas for her work with young women and the strides she has made with her platform, Beyond Beauty.
